Privacy Statement
KOOTENAY WILDERNESS TOURS recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of our customers and as such our privacy policy is stated below:
Any and all personal information collected about our customers is for Kootenay Wilderness Tours purposes only and will be kept confidential. The use of this information is to provide the tour(s) requested to the best of our ability, and to enable us to contact you or your emergency contact. Medical and personal information will be disclosed to the head and assistant guides so that they may be able to understand your abilities or concerns, or so that in the event of a medical emergency/situation they will be prepared to handle the situation appropriately, where emergency phone numbers are not in service, and professional medical help is not readily available. Such information may also be necessary to disclose to emergency/rescue personnel when appropriate. This information will remain in our records for at least seven (7) years after your stay with us, and will not otherwise be forwarded or disclosed in any way to any third party.
Cancellation Policy
KOOTENAY WILDERNESS TOURS reserves the right to change trip destinations and/or advertised adventure package day activities anytime prior to or during an adventure week without further notification to the client(s) due to weather conditions, road conditions, fitness ability(s), or any other unexpected reason that may arise at anytime, including insufficient numbers of registration. In the unlikely event we must cancel a package, we endeavor to notify client(s) at least 14 days prior to the starting date. Kootenay Wilderness Tours is not responsible for expenses incurred by trip members in preparing for the trip, and we will fully refund a customer's full payment for their package to date. In the event that you must cancel a reservation, you must notify Kootenay Wilderness Tours in writing as soon as possible. Due to the fact that many of our costs are committed well in advance of our adventure week starting dates, the following deposit and refund polices apply:
Deposit - $150.00 CAD upon registration; balance due 30 days prior to your the starting date.
Cancel - at least 60 days prior to your starting date: full refund less deposit
- 60-30 days prior: 50% refund, less deposit
- 29 days, or less, prior: no refund or deposit
- Alternatively, if a last minute cancellation is required, funds can also be credited towards another Kootenay Wilderness Tours package within one year.
Risk & Liability
BEFORE PARTICIPATING on any adventure program or outing, you will be required to sign a standard liability waiver/release form. This will release Kootenay Wilderness Tours from liability for any loss or damage to person or property in traveling to Canada or CrossRiver Wilderness Centre, or during or after participation in any Kootenay Wilderness Tours adventure package, for any reason whatsoever, including negligence on the part of Kootenay Wilderness Tours, any of its directors, officers, agents, or employees. The customer(s) will be required to sign a waiver before any Kootenay Wilderness Tours adventure package begins. Our trips involve risk and are designed to take our clients to remote locations where communication is difficult and medical treatment and rescue will not be readily available.
Insurance
EACH CLIENT should review their own personal insurance requirements to make sure their insurance is adequate for the risk and activities involved. Any questions can be directed to your local travel agency. Kootenay Wilderness Tours does not provide personal insurance for our clients, including but not limited to:
- trip cancellation
- theft and/or property damage
- travel/medical/accident insurance
- emergency rescue and/or evacuation costs
Airline Tickets
WHENEVER POSSIBLE, it is highly recommended that you not purchase cheaper airline tickets which may contain lots of restrictions. If an adventure package is cancelled or delayed for any reason, such as water levels, forest fires, insufficient registration, etc., you may be left with airline tickets you cannot alter or cash in. We strongly advise you to inquire with your travel agent about trip cancellation insurance and options before purchasing your ticket.
Nature & Wildlife
DUE TO OUR deep respect and admiration for the natural environment and its wildlife, we steadfastly condemn any littering, vandalizing, feeding, or any other destructive behavior during or after our programs. We practice low-impact presence in nature on all our outings, and nothing on a Kootenay Wilderness Tours adventure package is staged or preset. Wildlife abounds wherever we will be, but Kootenay Wilderness Tours cannot guarantee that the adventurer(s) will view any wildlife at anytime during the adventure week, although the potential is certainly there to see it at anytime on any outing. Furthermore, Kootenay Wilderness Tours guarantees that every precaution is taken to prepare for an unexpected animal encounter, in order to ensure both the safety of the wildlife and that of the customer(s).
Your Adventure Awaits
UPON signing your Kootenay Wilderness Tours registration form, and/or accepting membership on any Kootenay Wilderness Tours adventure package, the customer thereby agrees to the terms and conditions above, and is one step closer to an unforgettable experience in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. We love meeting new people and always look forward to our next opportunity to help make some laughter, creativity, learning, fun, and inspiration with our guests on an incredible experience in the wilderness. We hope to see you soon in our part of the world.
